Who knows what the rest of this might bring, but one thing that we know for certain is that our budgets are definitely changing.
We some people losing all or part of their salaries and the majority of us spending more time at home and no visits to restaurants and bars, our budgets probably look a lot different than they did a couple of months ago. How can you ensure that your budget is still working for you?
Boost your savings
Now that some of us have experienced more uncertainty around our incomes, we are probably reflecting on our financial situation with regards to the future. If you have the ability to, now is a good time to start working on building up your emergency funds.
Think about energy
With more time at home, your energy bills are going to increase. Back sure that you are taking steps to minimise usage at home but also put some money aside for when that bill lands. If you pay quarterly it could still be a couple of months away yet.
Create a “celebration” fund
If you can afford it, then why not put some money aside each month as spending money for when we can all go out and socialise again. You might want to spend it on some meals out, some new clothes or even a holiday. Plan for that now by including it in your budget.
Watch your food spending
Our food spending has gone up. It seems the closer we are to the fridge the more we are likely to eat. Therefore, factor in some budget for (healthy) snacks and take steps to keep your costs down. Check out the giveaway below too.
